Nakshatra/Star: Vishakha (20°00’ Libra   –  3°20’  Scorpio)

Vishakha is the 16th Nakshatra/Star of Zodiac ruled by planet JUPITER. It is the “Star of Purpose’’. The literal translation of Vishakha is “the forked” as this nakshatra is the only one ruled by two deities in one body: Indra, the king of the gods, and Agni, ritual fire. Vishakha people can express two types of desires, Material (Indra with kingly ambitious energy) or Spiritual (Agni with the purification of inner awareness). Indra and Agni here are related to agriculture ; showing the ripening effect of heat, rain and seasonal changes, thus making it an Agricultural nakshatra. Its symbolism has harvest below and cultivation above nature. Another name of this star is Radha, a compliment to Anuradha, the birth star of the Sun. It has the Symbol of a Leaf-decked triumphal gate. Vishakha relates to “ Vyapana Shakti ” – power to make manifest and achieve various things.

Vishakha usually functions as an obsessive, goal-oriented nakshatra, with complete disregard for nature of means employed to achieve desired end. It just focuses on its goal and wants to get it done by Hook or by Crook and after attaining its goal it sets another goal and so on and so on. When striving towards a goal becomes only objective in life, one is likely to have little peace of mind and will definitely miss true essence of life. Terms like burning grief ”,” burning desire  and ” burning passion ” are all tailor-made Vishakha expressions. A sense of emptiness follows any accomplishment. This sense of emptiness is a continuous feature throughout lives of Vishakha natives. Fire is never satisfied, no matter how much or how long it consumes. These natives are always concerned about what they don’t have, rather than making use of what they have. This emptiness and frustration drives some of more evolved Vishakha natives away from blind worldliness in search of higher knowledge and truths.“ Grass looks greener on other side ” is the best befitted idiom for Vishakha natives. These natives take life as a challenge of sorts. They usually make simple things complex and easy things difficult. Vishakha natives are very good at hiding its fiery quality under a calm exterior. It has qualities like possessiveness, jealousy and vindictiveness etc.
